We actively encourage volunteering in the community as we believe that giving back time is vital. The local community spend time sat at temporary traffic lights, following our diversions, moving their vehicles for road resurfacing so we believe it is important for us to give time back! We employ staff who volunteer for organisations such as Wellspring, Beechwood, St Ann’s Hospice and Mind to name a few. We feel that its important that our staff have the opportunity of giving back, helping the organisations that they have volunteered for and in turn also improving mental wellbeing for themselves.
We encourage employment in our sector from the local community by hosting work placements, we aim to set up a direct link with local colleges to facilitate these work placements. We know that we have a wealth of knowledge amongst our workforce, some who have been carrying out their job for many, many years and have knowledge that can only be gained from this long service and experience. Our objective is to launch a mentoring programme and to provide careers advice to young people. Our specialist employees are eager to share their experiences and expertise in different aspects of the job from machine driving, hand laying to gully emptying.
We enjoy nothing more than supporting our community. We have supported and continue to sponsor youth football teams, individual sports people within our community in sports from boxing to rugby, for the less energetic we also sponsor local gardening projects! We maintain and repair footpaths at local community buildings where precious funding can to be spent on other vital items. We are also involved in the purchase of community defibrillators with added support and training on their use.
